hello penang!

I am back! havent updated my blog for ages and i owe mum heaps of pictures. Here are some from our penang trip, mum! =)

This was one of the out-of-town-food-fei-lou-ship trips that we had recently. My second trip this year, but first time with this group of great friends!

11 July - about 5am
we had Mc D breakfast
then head north

10am
reached the island
it was raining
but it didnt dampen our spirit
first stop was this place near Kek Lok Si temple (not sure what's the name of the place)
we had curry mee.. found the spot (the exact spot we saw on the food guide magazine)
then head up to the temple for a brief visit but we did not enter
mua chi, one and only famous local sisters' cha keow teow, asam laksa, nasi khandar and heapssss more...

next day,
visited Su ee's church. Met mr Kana from utp and my dear junior from st 3, carol b.
bought tau sa peah and then drive down to KL.

Pictures...

Finally get to transfer these pics from my phone after so many attempts. Not in chronology order..
MJ cafe at Jaya 33

This is probably my new fav makan place in KL. It's a walking distance from church. Nice food. Reasonable price.

Nancie with her pinepple rice. I reckon it's such a lovely idea of presenting the food. Apparently they have a set where u can order the rice and the pineapple juice for rm8.50. Good price for this in KL

this was in church during a bible knowldge talk for future teachers and teachers. It's tomyum bihun. What I like is they've got different stuff such as "hae bi" (small shrimps?) and i think it's called lime leaves and a few other stuff that enhances the taste! Yumm

Curry bread at MJ. Another attracting way of presenting a dish. A yummy one. Looks like coconut but it's actually made out of bread.

Hakka mee... I have never heard of hakka mee before till that day. Lol. This tasted like the typical "kai see me" (chicken shreded noodle) in Tabuan Jaya's kopitiam. Nice but dont quite like the soup that goes with this..

this was at "atmosphera", a new place in Kuching, my personal fav. I love the dessert and the ambiance.. Cheryl and I had a good time catching up while spoiling ourselves with cheese cakes and macademia choc..

this was my not so successful 'checkboard' biscuits. It was too 'soft' for me to form checkers, so made it spiral instead. Haha. Miss baking..

Lindz's bday cake from the juniors. Custom-made cupcakes. That was superb!

Sending the wellingtonian juniors off at KLIA during valetines 2009

This was ikan pari and sotong... The latest spicy food that robbed my heart.
I dont normally go for spicy food.
But this was special.
My nose and eyes were tearing.
Sambal was so spicy.
I wanted to give up.
But it's irresistable.
I stayed right till the end.
It was real good!
DURIAN ABC... my friend ordered this but i managed to steal some. hehe

portugese grill at mid v... this was so far one of the best i ever had.

5 plates of rice for 3...

long queue but worth the wait le.. hehe

but nothing beats nanny's cooking! Authentic and cant find else where.

what now?

I was supposed to spent 10 minutes to prepare for tonight's worship but here I was spending my hour plus in an unproductive way i would say. It's okay. Let's get this done in 5 minutes and I'll head back to my room.
So we were on our way to KLIA last night. Shakina suggested a 'road-trip ice breakers'. She asked where would we like to visit and what food do we like to have...

I cant decide on one... There were too many. =P

Anyway, at this moment...

if I have a chance.. I would like to...
1. own a DSLR and learn more about photography skills... (cant get u off my mind!) wont be so soon till I can earn enough to afford one pretty good one, but yups.. I am longing for those moments to come true..

2. enrol in a local dance academy... It's February! meaning I'll be getting my 'little oscar' and classical award certificate ship over to Msia soon. yay!
That day I saw a ballet academy's building somewhere on our way back from church. It's the Federal Ballet Academy and my eyes were sparkling! hehe.. delighted to find one so near to my college. But because of the workload this year, I have to put this aside.
I got the news that the church's dance team is recruiting new members after CNY break. But as I texted the lady yesterday, I was told that it was already full and I'll have to wait for next recruitment and they dont know when it will be. Sad.. I hope it wont be long. My fault for not emailing them as soon as I've got the news before the break... sigh.
Anyway, yea.. I should be flexible.. If God closes one door, He will open another. May be this isnt where He would want me to be this time. Lord, would You please show me where I can be or should be...

3. cooking and baking.. I so wish I have my own kitchen here. A friend suggested I perhaps should invent a portable kitchen. It's like killing 2 birds with a stone.. can cook and make good business out of it. lol. I want to eaaaattttt....
I was looking through some of the pictures in my phone. Realised that I have more pictures of food than other things or people..

some Greek chicken recipe..

my small kitchen in NZ
the first birthday cake I ever baked
ketayap..
my breakfast.. miss it heaps.. ham, egg, tomato, lettuce..
cupcakes!

pumpkin soup and spaghetti..

ratatouli

i think i just know how to spoil myself with good homecook stuff.. that's breakfast..

grocery-affair

Again, I was at Mid V's jusco and carrefour to pick up some grocery stuff for tonight's yee sang at my apartment.

As I was walking down the fresh food section, lots of things ran into my mind. The vege were so fresh and cheap, and the seafood too.... My mind started to imagine lots of home-cooked food........ I really really really WISH that I have a kitchen here to cook. Kind of sick with eating out everyday.

I miss my kitchen in NZ. Though it's small but it has almost everything. Initially I was supposed to bring my slow cooker with me so I can perhaps have the chance to drink some sort of home cook soup every now and then. I love soups! But yeah... too bad I was travelling alone, already had too many for me to carry on my own. sigh.

Dinner

We had this massive reunion dinner last night with my grandparents and most of my father's siblings last night at this new chinese restaurant near my place. The food was yummy!. So what's the function? No reason actually. Dad just decided that we should come together to eat. I like that, especially I have been missing such dinner for 2 years! Thanks, dad!
