Studio – Blessings in disguise.

'Studio' is a collection of what Father has spoke to me about values and other things in life through ballet lessons. I promised to jot it down for my own reminder and also to inspire others.

Last night, this little sharing came to mind, I was encouraged and I hope you too, will be encouraged... Be blessed!

*****

I remember this happened somewhere in September or October 2008. It had been a dreadful week for me.

I was quite sick, physically and mentally exhausted. It was the last few weeks of the semester. Assignments were piling up (not because I don’t want to deal with it, but I was quite sick).

Ballet exam was coming up in few weeks but my progress was rather slow.

Along with it, there were a few other responsibilities and tasks to handle too. Pioneering children worship team was one of it, tending to various concerns in my cells were part of it, aside from the conferences and all.

Sounds quiet thrilling, huh? But it was a challenging process.

That particular week, everything just went hay-wire and by the end of it, I was almost at the verge of giving up.

Instead of waking up on a typical Sunday morning with joyous anticipation, I snug under my blanket and declared a “strike” (mogok). Haha… sounds familiar?

But I got up anyway and dragged my feet to children church for set up. After morning service, I rushed to the dance studio for exam practice.

*****

When I arrived, the main studio was occupied by the younger girls and we, the adults had to cram in the small waiting room next door.

Miss Kathiy, told me to work on my pointe. Grrr… I hated this the most.

My legs were still hurt from the practice on Friday and here she was telling me to jump. I showed her a few times and she kept asking me to do it again. She wasn’t satisfied and told me to go next door to practice on my own. In my heart, I was fuming, thinking why can’t she get it? “I am not well and my legs are still painful…”

At that moment, I wanted to just walk out of the studio and go home. But I went next door. Sat down and prayed silently for strength and for Father to show me His will again.

I stood up and faced myself in the mirror. My hands were neatly positioned on the bar. I took a deep breath and skipped a few times.

But before you knew it, I fell on the floor as my legs were still too painful and weak to support. I sat there with tears flowing from my eyes.

“May be I should not have enrolled myself in the exam at the first place. May be ballet is not for me.” Voices of doubts…

Memories of how I ended up in this dance school came pouring like water. It didn’t happen by chance. I wiped my tears and said, “Father, I know You are here with me in this even from the very start. Grant me the courage and strength, Father. I can’t do this alone. I need You here with me.”

I picked myself up and slowly, I tried skipping. The pain didn’t go away, but it is less disturbing now.

*****

Miss Kathiy came in and told me to show her. I did. Even though it wasn’t perfect, but it was way better than before. She smiled and said, “good, Audrey. Keep it up.”

When the class ended, she came and sat next to me. She said a few things but one thing that I still remember till today was this…

“Audrey, you got to keep telling yourself that you can do it. I know there are so much for you to catch up with the rest of the class, but I saw something different in you and I believe you can do it.””But it is really tiring and painful. My knee is still in the process of healing.”

“You got to suffer. Pain is good, Audrey. Everyone has to suffer; there should not be any excuse.”

"But... it’s really….”

“Nothing is too hard unless you allow it too. All of the dancers, even me when through hard training.”

*****

When I was on my way back from the studio, somehow I felt relief. During my quiet time that night, I pondered on what happened today.

The scenario in the studio today is rather similar to what we all face in reality. Trials and testing are inevitable elements in life.

The Word says,
consider it pure joy, my brothers, when ever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” – James 1:2-4

I thought how Jesus went through time of testing in the wilderness. He stood strong in His faith. He didn’t give in.

I thought about the different scenarios in life. Studies, career, relationship, marriage, skills, character, and such… They don’t just happen. Most of the time, it needs to be ‘worked on’, be ‘built’, be ‘nurtured’… etc.

There were times when things are hard. It was as if the whole world turned their back against us or we have failed ourselves and others. We feel like giving up.

But we have the assurance that Jesus will never leave us alone.
God’s love does not always keep us from trials, but it is a love that always keeps us through trials. His joy is our strength.

Hang on in there. There would not be a testimony without tests. And here is one of them.

Even in hardships, we rejoice because we have the assurance that all things work for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28). Have faith! God bless!

Love,
aud

Earth Hour

28 March 2009
8.30pm to 9.30pm

..one hour of darkness to support global warming campaign..

what was aud doing?
... practising her tambourine dance for next day's workshop, in the dark... (Not exactly.. there was a bit of light from the laptop..)

generally, i guess individual supports for the campaign were good, but not from the major shopping and eating places in Malaysia. What does this reflect? Business first, environment second?

One step at a time

Take one step at a time
There's no need to rush
It's like learning to fly, or falling in love
It's gonna happen when it's supposed to happen
And we find the reasons why
One step at a time

When you can't wait any longer
But there's no end in time
It's your faith that makes you stronger
The only way we get there
Is one step at a time

clearance moment

i thank God for the clearance of a few things this morning..

1. curfew extension letter
2. permission to be home for the weekends

Phew! Thanks Mr T.

These few days, i've been on the line a lot trying to get hold of an important lady at the other side. The last time, she requested for a letter from the ministry. After consulting my lecture, he wrote a formal letter and we had it faxed to her on Tues. I pray that this will do for her. When I finally got her this morning, anticipating for the green light to proceed, i was told that she just got back from outside and had not have a chance to look through her mails yet. Yeah. cant blame her as it's been a busy week for everyone. She's a nice lady.

Time is running out. Sometimes I wonder if thing would be easier if I have chosen the other way. But no matter who or what that made me come to this decision, I pray, O Lord for Your grace, mercy and favor. I am relying solely on You, Lord for a smooth process in this task. Grant me Your peace and wisdom. Teach me to be patient and apply my faith in tangible ways.

Initially, I planned to finish my lesson plan today. Finale. But the noise from the construction site next to my room was causing heaps of pain to my ears and head. Arghh.. did nothing much at the end, but took a nap due to headache.

Gambate gambate gambate...

pink polka

tadaaaaa!!! that's the pink polka dots on our hands. Not so clear in the pic. That was taken during lecture the other day before it got worst...
yeah.. and majority of us who went for the trip got it. *sobs*
Lindz and I went to the clinic the other day because we cant stand it anymore.

Doctors didnt believe that it was bitten by jelly fish because it has been a week. *Lol*
Normally reactions happen on the same day. Haha.. may be ours is lagging kot- just like IPBA's internet system.. super slow!

We were given meds to stop the itch but it has got drowsy effect. Erkk.. A wrong thing at such critical assignments period. Praise God it's starting to get better.. do keep all of us in prayers. For strengths, wisdom and focus. thanks

reddy

i remember it was almost 4am when Est and I finally got the paper done. And the best thing is that, the lectures decided to postpone the dateline TODAY when we are supposed to hand it in TODAY!

It's not about the dateline .. this particular paper is driving us mad. There's so much of confusion and the ugly part is that the whole teaching team seems to be on different pages altogether.

It's coming to the end of March. Many datelines are coming closer each day. I wonder how I'll be able to make it through for the next couple of weeks. Do keep me in prayers.

I hate that the holiday is so short. Cant believe it's over. I dragged myself back to this place.. yeah.. it's gonna be over soon. Hang in there, aud. breath.. breath

Sorry you're reading heaps of rambles here.. kinda cranky this morning over the paper (lack of zzz) and the red dots on my hands. A few of us were bitten by baby jelly fish during the holiday. Heaps of red spots all over our hands and it's irritating just looking at it, though u try not to..

aud aud aud.. jia you! Next month is heavy on assignments, but I am looking forward for a relaxing and fun hangout with you guys at home, hopefully. =) GBU

joy comes in the morning

it takes heaps of courage to stay positive and still be cheerful all the time and still stand in the position of an encourager to others when it's hurting so much inside. This isnt a denial. It's just a nature to want the best especially for your loved ones.

been breathing on 'courage' tank since I got back here. It's like my oxygen tank. One after another. Sometimes I wonder when this will ever come to an end.

I thank God that His love is never ending.. I pray You'll top up our courage again, O lord to face this season. I stand in the assurance of Your promises that joy comes in the morning.

Redang Island

Here are some pictures from Redang for your viewing pleasure, especially mum! haha.. it's 2am when it finally loaded everything. Super crappy internet speed. Anyway, here are some pics from est's phone. will upload other once i get it.. hopefully soon

too hard?

it's odd.
for the past few days,
i have been waking up suddenly between 5.30 - 5.49am

for first few days
i was super sleepy and tired
so I went back to sleep ( 0.o)"

then i realised it happened again
and i have been reading a lot about Jesus praying at Gethesmane
and about Him warning the disciples to keep watch and pray during qt..
hehe.. it's a sign for me to get back on my knees.. been slacking in it

it's been a while since I woke up super early to spend time with Him
Been staying up late for a few things
Should learn to sleep early

this morning i woke up at about 7 am - ish
had a very 'interesting' dream.. involved heaps of people i know
i went back to sleep (wanted to find out the ending) hehe.. sounds familiar?
but it left me hanging..

a lot been running through my mind
lots of 'whats' and 'ifs'
but I praise God, for His great love and purpose surpases all

at breakfast this morning
esther's dad came out of the room after praying saying in his cheerful voice, "is there anything too hard for the Lord?"

that's an assurance for me.
Indeed, nothing is too hard for Him.

Back to the dense air in college. Datelines datelines.. and more confusion..

but I thank God for a short but refreshing time in Redang. Just relax and have the whole the time to ourselves ... with no assignments or work nonsence. Haha.. will post the pics when i have the time.

Kays, back to assignment now.. God bless!

old town kopitiam at bangsar south

harold was the first who went up for the speaker's corner. It's a 8 mins free topic public speaking conducted during break time.

a few of us sang a song for madam ng's retirement ceremony

fragments

IPBArian CF visited the easter production in UM on Wednesday. It was a great play. Great job li ern and team. I like the stage, especially those lightbulbs that they hanged across the stage.
The title was 'fragments'. I reckon it suits really well with everything that's being potrayed in the drama and the message behind it. Jesus allowed himself to be crucified, beaten, scared, turned into pieces for our sake.
I thank God. Cant imagine how's life without this salvation. Praise God for His unconditional love. =)

met some ex schoolmates there.. from left is grace, calista, bev and aud

hang in there

today is 13th march, that's only a quarter way through
battles getting more intense and the air gets denser each day.

Pictures...

Finally get to transfer these pics from my phone after so many attempts. Not in chronology order..
MJ cafe at Jaya 33

This is probably my new fav makan place in KL. It's a walking distance from church. Nice food. Reasonable price.

Nancie with her pinepple rice. I reckon it's such a lovely idea of presenting the food. Apparently they have a set where u can order the rice and the pineapple juice for rm8.50. Good price for this in KL

this was in church during a bible knowldge talk for future teachers and teachers. It's tomyum bihun. What I like is they've got different stuff such as "hae bi" (small shrimps?) and i think it's called lime leaves and a few other stuff that enhances the taste! Yumm

Curry bread at MJ. Another attracting way of presenting a dish. A yummy one. Looks like coconut but it's actually made out of bread.

Hakka mee... I have never heard of hakka mee before till that day. Lol. This tasted like the typical "kai see me" (chicken shreded noodle) in Tabuan Jaya's kopitiam. Nice but dont quite like the soup that goes with this..

this was at "atmosphera", a new place in Kuching, my personal fav. I love the dessert and the ambiance.. Cheryl and I had a good time catching up while spoiling ourselves with cheese cakes and macademia choc..

this was my not so successful 'checkboard' biscuits. It was too 'soft' for me to form checkers, so made it spiral instead. Haha. Miss baking..

Lindz's bday cake from the juniors. Custom-made cupcakes. That was superb!

Sending the wellingtonian juniors off at KLIA during valetines 2009

This was ikan pari and sotong... The latest spicy food that robbed my heart.
I dont normally go for spicy food.
But this was special.
My nose and eyes were tearing.
Sambal was so spicy.
I wanted to give up.
But it's irresistable.
I stayed right till the end.
It was real good!
DURIAN ABC... my friend ordered this but i managed to steal some. hehe

portugese grill at mid v... this was so far one of the best i ever had.

5 plates of rice for 3...

long queue but worth the wait le.. hehe

but nothing beats nanny's cooking! Authentic and cant find else where.
curlz losing its shape

You- nique you

Sometimes I just wish I have a mind like a mathematician
Where tackling of math problems are simply effortless,
Just like putting peanuts in your mouth

Or may be a mind of a linguist
Where explaining complex grammar rules is less complicated
As compared to unraveling the entangled threads

Perhaps a mind that speaks the computer lingo
Where when your computer decided to go wild,
You know the magic words to tame it

Probably a scientific mind would be wonderful
Where exploring the mysteries of outer space could be more real
Beyond the walled up space like we are used to be

Instead of all these

I have a mind
That comes alive when there are shapes and colours
It feeds on imaginations and abstracts
Where not many find it acceptable by logics

I have a mind
That loves capturing things in motion
Just like rhythm and dance steps joint together
They make a perfect item but only few appreciates such union

I have a mind
That finds delight in smile engraved on people’s face
It makes me want to do all I could to make it stays
But a genuine intention can sometimes be misinterpreted

So it whispers…

It is not by chance
Who and where you ended up today.
Be part of what seems common is like a rigid thing
But you do not have to be

Savor the person you see in front of mirror everyday
Never has there been
And never again will there be another you
The You-nique you.

We have been brought up thinking that grass is always greener at the other side. This may not necessary be true. Some people spend ages searching for something they long for, but they never realize that it is just there right beside them or in them. May be it’s not all about finding the perfect one, but loving and appreciating the one that you hav

...

i am beginning to see the big picture
i am beginning to understand what it is all about
so much so I have arrived
Here I am
Not looking back
But pressing forward

What's for tomorrow
We may not understand
But we know who holds tomorrow
And we know who holds our hands

Patience and perseverance have a magical effect
before which difficulties disappears and obstacles vanish

When it comes to doing life together
We all have to learn how to do life together

Nothing is easy brizzy in life
but we are here for each other till the end of life

the puzzle
it is so puzzling
she puzzles

yet in puzzledness
thank God for Your daily grace and love nuzzle
without it, she will become even more puzzled

so quickly time buzzled
stop being puzzled
stand against the puzzledness
you'll soon find the answer to the puzzle
